Our Parenting Journey

The Corners We Kept Walking Into

The Corners We Kept Walking Into

Nobody warned us that one of the most painful parts of parenting would be… the corners of a high chair.

Not the sleepless nights.

Not the endless laundry.

The corners.

Our Tripp Trapp has been part of our family for years. It’s seen first foods, messy dinners, and countless conversations around the table. We genuinely love how well it grows with our child.

But because the chair stays in the middle of our daily life, it also became one of those pieces of furniture we walked past dozens of times a day.

And somehow, those corners always seemed to find us.

The bumps that nobody talks about

At first, it was our toddler.

Learning to climb in and out independently meant the occasional bumped head or knocked cheek. Nothing serious, but enough to make everyone pause and say, “Ouch.”

Then we realised it wasn’t just the kids.

It was us too.

Walking past with laundry.

Carrying dinner plates.

Rushing around during the evening chaos.

I honestly lost count of how many times I hit my leg against the corner and wondered how something could hurt so much.

It became one of those silly family jokes.

“Not the Tripp Trapp again!”

Living around the problem

Like most parenting things, we just accepted it.

We moved differently.

Tried to remember where the chair was.

Reminded the kids to be careful.

Because that’s what parents do — we adapt.

But after one particularly painful encounter that left me limping around the kitchen, I remember thinking, There has to be a simpler solution than avoiding my own furniture.

A tiny change that made home feel gentler

Adding soft corner protection wasn’t a big moment.

Nobody cheered.

Nothing dramatic happened.

In fact, that’s exactly why we appreciated it.

The corners simply stopped being something we thought about.

The kids could climb with more confidence.

We stopped wincing every time someone moved around the table.

And life carried on — just with fewer “ouch” moments.

Why we’re sharing this

Parenting isn’t always about huge breakthroughs.

Sometimes it’s about removing tiny frustrations that quietly drain your energy every day.

This was one of those changes for us.

Not life-changing.

Not revolutionary.

Just one less thing to worry about in a house already full of enough things to think about.

And honestly, that’s sometimes all we’re looking for.

🤍

For our family, that little bit of extra peace of mind came from a set of extra thick silicone corner guards designed to fit the Tripp Trapp chair, helping soften everyday bumps for both kids and adults.
